PERSONAL CHILDHOOD WEB

Many people in my life has loved and nurtured me. These are some of the people who influenced my life as I grew up. They instilled values, respect, and self love. I am really blessed to have or had them in my life.

My Mother: Ora

My mother is a very hard working lady. She raised four girls. She taught us how to conduct ourselves as respectable young ladies. When I was growing up she worked two jobs to help support the family. She made everyday a special day. I remember when my youngest sisters and I wanted bikes for Christmas. Our mom did not wait until Christmas to get them for us she brought them for us on Easter. Other family member talked about what she did but that did not bother her. She wanted us to enjoy our bikes during the upcoming summer. When I visit her these days she is not happy unless she has given me food to take home. My mother always have been a go getter. So am I. My mother was the disciplinarian one in my family.

My Father: John

My father passed this May. I still missed him so much. My daddy was a very quiet, strong man. He did not talk a lot but when he spoke oh what wisdom he shared. I loved it when he told story of his childhood. He had a wonderful memory for dates. He loved his family and he would show and tell us constantly. He taught his four girls how to respect themselves and others  He taught us to say what we meant and mean what we say..He called my name in a way that no one else could.

My sister Sarah

Sarah is much older than me. When I was a teenager I used to spend the summers with her in New York where I worked at a state mental hospital. My sister returned back to school late in age now she is a retired RN.  She would always encourage me when I used to tell her what I wanted to do.   She is like a second mother.

My Aunt Eula

My aunt lived next door to us. She had 9 children of her own but she always included me when they would go shopping. She taught me how to braid hair, cook and about flowers. She taught me to always share with other and that there is always room for more. She taught me how to take care of your children and always to encourage them to do well. Today when I go to her house we always walk around her yard as she tell me about her beautiful flowers.

 My Aunt Stella

Aunt Stella did not have any children of her own. I would stay with her and Uncle George. She would let me help her cook and she would always say “honey you always add this or that”. She show me how to provide for my husband and to support him and encourage him when it seems like he is caring the weight of the world.

Hello Everyone

The children book that I really like is The Tortoise and the Hare. As you know this a classic Aesop’s fable. I enjoy reading it to my children when they were young and now I read it to my grandchildren. The story tells of a fast hare who challenges a slow tortoise to a race. The Tortoise wins the race because of his persistence. This story has so many lessons about life.

The race is not given to the swift but to him that endures.

Those who rush my under estimate those who are slow and steady.

Even if you are slow at what you do if your heart is in it you can prevail.

The race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong    (Ecclesiastes 9:11 James Bible)

The song “The Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston fuels my passion for children and the Early Childhood Field.  It stirs the excitement, and passion that we should have in teacher the future generation to believe in themselves.
