I-1.1
To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and education
and to stay informed through continuing education, and training.
With having knowledge on current issues and research
this would assist me in serving and meeting the needs of the children and their
families. My attending professional trainings, conferences, and seminars would
help me to stay up on the changes and discoveries in the field of early
childhood education.
Keeping an open mind to the new things I can be
introduce to through the different children and families. Have materials such as
art, books, and other items that show families of different culture. Display
labels in the language of the families. Making sure families are given
opportunities to share their customs and beliefs when the opportunity arises.
Connect with the children and families.
Making sure staff has the proper education and training
and the staff child ratio is in compliance at all times. The needs of the
families are being met by sharing information of resources that can assist them.
Providing an environment in which all children and families are welcome.
Barbara I like the 3 ideals you chose. I think it is very important that we continue our education and not just stay at a standstill. There are many conferences and training that we can attend or take online. Continuing our education will be of great benefit in the field of early childhood. Having an open mind benefits you and the world in a number of ways. When you interact with people without judging them, you foster tolerance and encourage those around you to keep an open mind. On a personal level, you open up your world of possibilities.
ReplyDeleteI concur with your third ideal listed- to assist the program in providing the highest quality of service. I agree with your statement that we need to make sure the staff has the proper education and training. I am currently working as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher and one of my colleague is working on a variance of her license and I have found her to spend the majority of her work time struggling with paperwork and regulations versus working with students and I don't think that it's a great way to get the job done or to work. I know that we are short qualified professionals for positions but there needs to be some sort of middle ground established to help cover those positions with people who have had some sort of training or to be heavily mentored during their variance periods.
